Information Quality Management Capability Maturity Model

Abstract:

Quality management has been an integral component of software engineering and manufacturing industries for decades and it has been described as being fundamental to organisational success and growth. Philip Crosby was the first to propose the idea of quality management maturity and his ideas have since been adopted by IBM and SEI to software engineering and by several other researchers to information quality management. This presentation details the development of an Information Quality Management Capability Maturity Model (IQM-CMM) through a doctoral research project.

IQM-CMM described in this presentation was developed inductively, as opposed to some deductively proposed models found in the literature and, as such, it is grounded in empirical data gathered from a wide range of information quality researchers and practitioners. As a result, the model does not represent a limited view of one researcher, but it aggregates a variety of different views.

Saša (Sasha) Baškarada's photo

Dr. Saša (Sasha) Baškarada is a seasoned IT professional and academic. He taught a wide range of software engineering and computer science courses at the University of South Australia (UniSA) and also spent some time developing software for the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) before getting involved in information quality through his doctoral research.

Saša completed his PhD at the Strategic Information Management Laboratory at UniSA while also researching data quality for a large Australian Defence organisation. After the completion of his PhD, he worked as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Saša has provided consulting advice to numerous Australian and international organisations in the areas of Information Quality Management and Strategic Information Management and has exhibited thought leadership through the publication of one book (Information Quality Management Capability Maturity Model) as well as numerous book chapters and peer reviewed journal and conference articles.

Tony O'Brien, until his recent retirement, a Finance Manager within Remploy, the largest provider of employment opportunities for disabled persons within the UK and is also the Moderator of the Association's IDQ Webinar Forum. He has over forty years experience within the fields of Finance and IS and has been involved in the implementation and development of a number of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. He has recently completed a doctoral programme focussing on sustaining data quality within planning and information systems.
