Heather RichardsHeather works for the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) in the Data Quality Department. At CIHI, she leads and manages several data quality projects that aim to understand how reliable and complete the data are in Canada's health information databases, which leads to understanding how much this information can be trusted to make informed decisions in health policy and patient care. Heather has authored several data quality reports and presented to various regional, national and international audiences on data quality. Her position at CIHI includes leading all activities, tasks and responsibilities associated with the planning, implementation and evaluation of data quality special studies. She also produces jurisdictional data quality reports that are prepared for the Deputy Ministers of Health. She is well versed in developing project plans, defining project tasks, milestones, resource requirements, and project schedules. She leads data analysis, and writes CIHI reports, discussion papers, and articles.

Heather recently returned to her home town in Victoria, British Columbia after working in Ottawa, Ontario for eight years at CIHI and prior to this at Statistics Canada. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Victoria. When not at work, she generally can be found doing odd-and-end projects on her 100-year old heritage house, or trying to pull a group of friends together to play what she considers the best sport in the world: volleyball.
