Ken Self
About the Author
Ken Self is Shell's Data Strategy and Standards Manager. In this role he is responsible for continually improving data processes and content standards to drive data qualify improvements and enable efficient operations,effective controls and maximum value for Shell's businesses. This includes development and implementation of data qualify standards and KPIs for data processes, analysing the cost of poor data qualify, developing a data qualify curriculum, and comparing Shell's data qualify performance against best practices.
An Australian national, he has spent most of his career at Shell Australia, which he joined in 1985 after a few years with CRA. Since then he has also spent time in Sarawak Shell and in the Shell Downstream head office in London. He is now based in Melbourne but continues in a global role working in Shell's Data Process team whose members are located in all parts of the world. he has over 20 years experience working in all areas of data management including data modelling, applications development, provision of data management services and developing data management strategies.
Ken lives in Melbourne with his wife and two grown-up children and spends as much of his free time as possible either pursuing trout with a fly rod or cycling up moutains.
