Roger Oed currently holds the position of Asset Information Manager at WEL Networks Ltd in Hamilton, New Zealand. Roger is responsible for the quality of the information throughout the company. WEL is one of the leading lines companies in New Zealand and has been progressive in addressing its data quality issues. Roger has presented the work at numerous conferences.
Before joining WEL Roger has spent many years in both industry and academia working in many diverse areas of engineering and IT. After joining WEL, the initial focus of his work was improvement of the spatial data within the company, which is critical for an utility company with geographically distributed assets. More recently he completed a project designed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting. The initial focus on data quality contributed to a successful implementation of a new data warehouse and financial asset register. Currently he is reviewing existing data quality processes across the company with the aim of improving their efficiency and outputs.
