Preparing for the Exam

Job Analysis Report (jobanalysisreport.iaidq.org). Review the detailed IQCP Exam Specifications in this important document.

Reference List. The books and articles listed support the topic areas of the IQCP Framework. They are used to write and review the questions in the test question pool. To determine which references you need, review the IQCP Exam Specifications in the Job Analysis report, identify the topics you need to study further, then read this reference list to identify the references that support your needs.

Study Guide. This new resource will help you to focus on critical areas for the IQCP exam.

Sample Questions. The purpose of this document is to provide examples of questions similar to those on the IQCP test. The questions included in this document do not appear in the IQCP exam itself. As reflected in the Exam Blueprint included in the Job Analysis report, the IQCP exam covers abroad range of topics. This sample questions document makes no attempt to reflect the broad range of topics contained in the exam itself.

Training Courses. A list of training providers is being compiled and will be provided over the next few months. In addition, IAIDQ is partnering with local Information Quality associations and organizations around the world to bring IQCP training to you. These Affiliates will develop and provide refresher training courses to help candidates prepare for the IQCP exam.

Note: though training and refresher courses are recommended and will be beneficial to many, they are not required to take the exam.

IQCP Exam Prep Boot Camp

To help candidates prepare for the IQCP exam, IAIDQ has partnered with leading Irish Information Quality services company Castlebridge Associates to provide an online refresher course.

These “Boot Camp” sessions will consist of six 1-hour tutorials that will each focus on one areas of the IQCP Domains, Tasks, Knowledge and Skills framework.   The course content is as follows:

Session 1: The Gurus (Core Quality Principles and Information Quality Thought Leaders – the basic concepts).

Session 2: Thinking strategically about Information and Data (Special Properties, Governance, Enterprise Architecture Strategy Life Cycle and Beyond).

Session 3: Change Management: Principles, Practices, Tools and Techniques (covering Change Management, use of stories, anecdotes).
Friday 24 February 2012

Session 4: Leading a team (including project management, conflict, team dynamics, running meetings).
Wednesday 29 February 2012

Session 5: How adults learn, what to teach, and how ideas spread (adult learning, diffusion of concepts theory, mapping IQ training topics to stewardship roles).
Thursday 8 March 2012

Session 6: Information Management basics (relational database theory, basics of statistics, understanding metadata).
Friday 16 March 2012

The webinar series is will begin in February.  Recordings will also be made available. Registration fee for each session is US$20. Participants in the “live” sessions will be able to ask questions during the sessions.

Rosetta Stone for Information Quality (RS4IQ).  For IQCP candidates for whom English is not the first language, this valuable glossary provides of a list of important IQ terms in English translated into several languages.  The list was developed as part of an effort led by the MIT IQ program to develop a common understanding for terminology related to the concepts and characteristics of Information Quality.

Work Experience. Draw from your information/data quality work experience. Practical experience is an important component of your preparation for the IQCP exam.
